The contemporary dance diploma program is a three-year professional training program designed for dancers interested in pursuing careers as contemporary dance artists. Our goal is to train strong and versatile dancers adaptable to the constant evolution of the contemporary dance form. The School of Dance is a registered private career college under the Private Career Colleges Act, 2005. Our contemporary dance diploma program also offers a joint diploma degree with York University. Audition dates are March 3 and Aug. 19, 2024.

The School of Dance (Ballet):
Description:
The School of Dance professional ballet program is a nine-year course for students eight to sixteen years old. The curriculum is balanced between technical growth and creative expression through basic Cecchetti ballet training, supplemented with contemporary dance and other theatrical studies. The school’s faculty of professional teachers includes international guest artists and choreographers each season, and students have the opportunity to perform in the national theatres of Ottawa. Auditions will take place in spring 2024.

L’École supérieure de ballet du Québec is the only francophone institution in North America that offers world-class training in ballet. At Arts Umbrella’s International Summer Dance Intensive, held Aug. 5-23, 2024, world-renowned teachers, choreographers and repetiteurs will offer a dance experience that will lead dancers to reach their performance potential. This intensive full-day, three-week program includes ballet, repertoire, pointe, pas de deux for advanced students, Gaga, modern, Forsythe Improvisation Technologies, contemporary, movement exploration and coaching and conditioning.

Simon Fraser School of Contemporary Arts dance program offers a range of approaches to dance training, creation and performance. We are looking for students interested in exploring new ways of approaching movement, creativity and expanding their versatility as artists.
