University of Calgary offers a post-secondary study program in dance practice and theory. Varied course offerings include technique (contemporary, jazz, West African, ballet), choreography, performance, production, dance and the camera, anatomy, dance science, pedagogy, somatics, among others. The School for the Contemporary Arts offers a dance program in contemporary dance training, creation and performance that is uniquely interdisciplinary, intercultural and that caters to today’s imaginative dance artists. We are looking for students interested in exploring multiple creative ways of approaching contemporary movement and composition and in expanding their versatility with the challenge of reshaping the landscape of the contemporary dance scene. Victoria Academy of Ballet (VAB) offers a half-day professional training program designed for students aged 12+. Students attend academic school in the morning and training classes in the afternoon. VAB also offers a three-year post-secondary bridge program that bridges that gap between studio dance and a professional career. Students earn a diploma in classical ballet and contemporary techniques. VAB holds designation status with the B.C. Ministry of Advanced Education, Private Training Institutions Branch and Education Quality Assurance.
