Members of the Regroupement québécois de la danse (RQD) gathered at the Circuit-Est choreographic centre in Montréal, where discussions focused on current and prospective projects. The RQD’s initiative – to revolutionize the future of dance in Québec – is gaining awareness as this year’s assembly saw record-breaking attendance with almost 120 members participating.
Marc Boivin, re-elected to a fourth term as president of the association by a unanimous vote, addressed the crowd emphasizing the many successes that came out of the 2012/13 Activities Report. The RQD created new membership categories, which it believes will lead to better representation of dance professionals in Québec, and gained a vital new partner in the Canadian Dance Assembly with whom they will be joining forces in the year ahead.
Day two of the assembly focused on a particular theme: The power to be proactive in our professional relationships. These discussions laid the groundwork for the RQD’s priority in the upcoming year – to provide ideal working conditions for dance professionals by working for better infrastructure and resources.
A new Activities Report will be issued in January 2014.
The RQD was founded as a means to represent the interests of dance professionals. For thirty years, it has been celebrating dance in Québec and realizing long-term development projects.
