Evi-Dance Radio in Toronto ended on December 4, 2015. The program was cut short by CIUT (89.5 FM) after sixteen years of broadcasting, according to a Facebook post by producer and host Ted Fox.
Fox cited an “internal dispute with the station” as the reason behind the close. Co-host Andrya Duff said the announcement left her “saddened, shocked and disappointed.”
Broadcasting from the University of Toronto’s community radio station, Evi-Dance proudly covered a diverse array of dance-related subjects on a local, national and international scale. Evi-Dance featured news relating to Toronto productions and festivals, interviews with dance professionals about their creative process and coverage on funding and dance history.
“Evi-Dance was a vibrant element of the Toronto dance scene,” said Malgorzata Nowacka, former host at Evi-Dance. The show connected “the national dance community, and online archives made it possible to access information about artists interviewed on the program.”
Fox hopes to continue his work in dance journalism by engaging the community through electronic and print pieces. Podcasts and updated dance news will still appear on the Evi-Dance website.
“We are all grateful to Ted Fox for his perseverance,” said Nowacka.

Evi-Dance will resume in 2016 with co-hosts will be Samara Thompson, Nicole Hamilton, and Malgorzata Nowacka, according to Ken Stowar, Station Manager and Program Director and CIUT-FM. By email correspondence Stowar says “Evi-dance was not cut. Three of the four co-hosts will be back shortly with a new and revamped show that will speak not only to dance industry types, but to the all important wider audience that is potentially available.”
