Sadler’s Wells, the UK’s foremost production house and dance venue, has named Crystal Pite as its newest associate artist. Pite’s latest work, The Tempest Replica, will have its UK premiere at Sadler’s Wells on April 25 and 26, 2014. Pite is a former company member of Ballet British Columbia and William Forsythe’s Ballett Frankfurt and is the artistic director of her company, Kidd Pivot, based in Vancouver. “Crystal Pite has an international reputation for her work. She’s a very talented choreographer and is highly regarded in her field, so becoming an associate artist at Sadler’s Wells is the next natural progression,” said Wells’ Artistic Director Alistair Spalding.
Additionally, after revealing details of one of its most successful years in 2012/13 with audience numbers of nearly 500,000, Sadler’s Wells has announced a new ten-year expansion program. The plan includes opening a new 500- seat contemporary dance venue in London and a £5-million investment in commissioning funds and continued support for touring.
Pite fans can catch An Evening with Crystal Pite as part of the Front Row Centre Events screening series at Cineplex theatres across Canada on November 17.
