Peter Chin was born in Jamaica in 1962 during the moments when the island became independent. He has lived and worked in both Jamaica and his home of Toronto, contributing to the cultural life of that city for many decades. He is the artistic director of interdisciplinary dance company Tribal Crackling Wind (www.tribalcracklingwind.ca). Since 2003, Chin has researched and worked in Cambodia, and he has co-founded the NKK international Dance Centre (www.nkkdancecentre.com). Chin’s work has been recognized with five Dora Mavor Moore awards and many nominations, a Gemini award, the Murriel Sherrin award for international achievement in dance from Toronto Arts Foundation, among other recognitions. His work has been presented across Canada and around the world, throughout Asia, in Latin America, Amsterdam, India, the United States and the Caribbean.
