In early November, Atlantic Ballet Theatre of Canada (ABTC) announced that Artistic Director Igor Dobrovolskiy was awarded the 2014 Lieutenant-Governor’s Award for High Achievement in Performing Arts, New Brunswick’s highest artistic honour. Dobrovolskiy co-founded ABTC in 2001 with CEO Susan Chalmers-Gauvin. In the Moncton-based company’s thirteen years he has created eleven full-length works and forty-eight short works that tour nationally and internationally. The Lieutenant Governor’s Awards for High Achievement in the Arts is a juried program designed to recognize outstanding contribution to the arts in New Brunswick. Award recipients receive $20,000.
