Big news for Festival des arts de Saint-Sauveur (FASS) with the recent announcement that, in 2015, Artistic Director Anik Bissonnette will hand over the reins of the successful summer festival to none other than National Ballet of Canada (NBoC) star Guillaume Côté. “I am delighted to be passing the baton to Guillaume Côté, one of the most inspiring figures in dance today,” Bissonnette said in a press release. “Few dancers or choreographers embrace all the possibilities of dance with such joy and vision, and I foresee an exciting future for the FASS under his artistic guidance.”
Now in its twenty-third year, the 2014 edition of FASS runs from July 31 to August 9 in the Laurentian resort town of Saint-Sauveur. Bissonnette collaborated with Côté on the dance and music programming, which kicks off with ProArteDanza featuring performances by Côté himself, Svetlana Lunkina and dancers from the NBoC.
The festival continues with visits from the Martha Graham Dance Company (August 2), Compagnie Marie Chouinard (August 7) and an international ballet showcase (August 8 and 9). For more information about FASS programming, ticket and travel information check their website at fass.ca
