Tonight, the winners of the 42nd annual Dora Mavor Moore Awards were announced at a ceremony at the Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Centre in Toronto.
Named for Dora Mavor Moore (1888-1979) and presented by the Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA), the awards honour achievements in dance, theatre and opera in Toronto.
This year, the top winner in the dance division was In My Body, co-presented by dance Immersion, Canadian Stage and TO Live. The show, choreographed by Crazy Smooth, racked up four awards: Outstanding Production, Outstanding Original Choreography, Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble and Outstanding Achievement in Design. The production saw a total of seven nominations.
All winners this year were awarded $1,000 from the new Pat and Tony Adams Freedom Fund for the Arts, excluding Outstanding Production and Outstanding Ensemble recipients.
