On July 23, youth and professional dancers competed in the Bboy/Bgirl and All Styles Dance Battles as part of UNITY Festival 2015. Amongst the youth contestants, Block Sessions Crew took the win for the 2v2 Breaking Battle; Rebels de la Soul for the 2v2 All Styles Battle; and Caerina “Pekoe” – who competed in both battles – took home the Tangerine MVP Award. In the professional division, Sektor won the 7-to-Smoke Pro Battle. Hosted by Canadian singer and choreographer Lady C, the dance event featured bboy Marlon from the groundbreaking crew Havikoro. Marlon performed and also crowned the victorious dancers.
The yearly UNITY Festival is held by UNITY Charity, a Toronto-based organization that teaches youth positive expression through beatboxing, breakdancing, spoken word, poetry and graffiti. The festival runs over four days and celebrates
