LA FORASTERA (The Outsider) is the newest theatrical flamenco dance work from Flamencolia Dance Company, and was created by award-winning flamenco dancer, choreographer and artistic director Lia Grainger.
La Forastera tells the story of an artist out of place, of what it means to tear up one’s own roots in the hopes of embodying the culture of another country and its people. It is a love story, between an artist and an art form. It is a true story. With live dance and music, text, narration, projections, and documentary film, La Forastera weaves a tale of transformation, from emulation to actualization.
