The Canadian Opera Company’s annual Centre Stage: Ensemble Studio Competition returns for an evening in the spotlight where Canada’s top voices compete to be the next opera star. At the grand finale of a month-long search for Canada’s best young opera singers, finalists sing one last aria to wow the judges in the hopes of winning cash prizes, performance opportunities and a chance to join the Ensemble Studio, the COC’s career development program for emerging opera professionals. They are accompanied by the acclaimed COC Orchestra, led by COC Music Director Johannes Debus. A complimentary post-show toast, celebrating the winners and finalists, welcomes all attendees.
