Intern
Spenser McRae began dancing at the age of two and trained as a competitive dancer in a wide variety of styles. She holds a BA Dance Degree from the University of Calgary and, following graduation, she completed a pre-professional training program with Decidedly Jazz Danceworks. She found a deep connection to all things jazz which influenced her own unique style. McRae then moved abroad to Edinburgh for two years where she continued to perform and teach, as well as volunteer at the Royal National Institute for the Blind, where she led dance classes for sight-impaired adults. In August 2014 Spenser was accepted as one of six interns to take part in the Glasgow Commonwealth Dance Exchange with Ombetja Yehinga Organisation's dance troupe in Namibia. She taught and trained with Namibia's only professional dance company and, collaboratively, they created a piece about gender-based violence which was performed around the country to educate youth about this prevalent issue. McRae is currently working towards earning her post graduate degree in Arts Management at Humber College in Toronto, and she is working as an administrator an dance teacher at Innovative Rhythm Dance Studios.
McRae is very grateful for all of the experiences her dancing has brought her and she continues to discover ways to share her greatest passion with others!
