Paul Axford gives a shout out to having seen Toronto Independent Dance Enterprise (TIDE) in the 1970s – A company that operated from 1978 to 1989 co-founded by Paula Ravitz, Denise Fujiwara, Seth Levinson, Jennifer Mascall and Susan McKenzie. TIDE was a collective of choreographers and among the first Canadian companies to practice, teach and use contact and postmodern improvisational practices in their creative and performance practices.
