POST NO BILLS

By Emma Kerson

The Vancouver International Dance Festival (VIDF) has launched into its seventeenth season with three weeks of dance performances and workshops running March 1-25. On March 23-25, Denmark-based solo performer and artistic director of X-act Kitt Johnson brings her visually arresting work POST NO BILLS to Vancouver.

For more than twenty-five years, Johnson has been one of the foremost figures on the Danish dance and performance scene, developing her own particular artistic universe, which is both minimalist and expressive. In POST NO BILLS, she explores the purpose and potential productivity of crisis. In a work that speaks to both moments of personal and social crisis, Johnson looks at how transformation can ensue when there is a great loss, when there is nothing left.

Johnson was awarded the Danish Reumert as Dancer of the Year 2015 for POST NO BILLS.

VIDF presents Johnson’s POST NO BILLS on March 23-25, 2017, at the Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreation Centre.
