IMissYou

IMissYou came out of a period in Toronto-based choreographer Patricia Allison’s life when she was recently heartbroken. Like many artists, she used the feelings of loss and loneliness to fuel movement to create and shape the piece. It remained a one-woman project until Allison had the opportunity to go to Vancouver and work with six dancers during Mascall Dance’s creation and performance series, Bloom. From there she partnered with director Rob Kempson, musician James Everett and designer Joe Pagnan, and in a blog post titled “Collaborates are Everything,” she hints that there are likely even more people along the way who guided the work. What started as a solo about one person’s heartbreak has grown into something more universal, something that can be shared with the world and to which we can all relate.

IMissYou runs June 3-5 at hub14 in Toronto.
