By Julye Huggins

The November/December 2011 issue of The Dance Current print magazine includes an item about Ils dansent.”Ils dansent veers away from the SYTYCDC competition scenario. Its documentary style charts male bonding and the journey of ten versatile young men.” By Philip Szporer, The Dance Current: Print, November/December 2011. Surfacing on YouTube is Nico Archambault’s new thirteen-part TV series, in which ten talented men (auditioned from a pool of approximately 130 applicants) challenge themselves to improve and diversify their skills at a professional level. Of the various styles they bring to the table, they learn to switch it up between ballet, contemporary, hip hop, ballroom and even flamenco. The show’s unique angle is a great way to draw attention to dance training geared for men, as well as the camaraderie and supportive atmosphere that can be fostered. The dancers include Chad Concepcion, Alexandre Wilhelm, Jonathan Bois, Samuel Chouinard, Danny Amaral De Matos, Marc-Antoine Millette, Vladimir Morisseau, Nicholas Bellefleur-Bondu, Jossua Collin and Jonathan Roumain.Check out the video below to see parts two and three of this first episode. Incidentally, while the show is primarily directed to a francophone audience, there is also English dialogue.Part Two:
