What is destination dance~danse?

destination dance~danse is a comprehensive, bilingual, searchable database of Canadian dance performances. Maintained and updated regularly by staff at The Dance Current magazine, destination dance~danse functions as:

• A promotional tool;


• An audience development initiative;


• A professional community planning service; and


• An editorial resource for The Dance Current magazine.

How does it work?

Dance artists, companies and presenters submit listings and press releases to the magazine headquarters via email. Information is formatted and periodically added to the calendar. Staff at the magazine also conduct regular research to supplement the calendar. However, the calendar is only as comprehensive as you make it. We rely on community members to provide information about their performances.

Listings may be submitted in either English or French.


What does a listing include?

Each listing includes details about the performance, a short descriptive sentence and an image, along with links to the artist or company’s website, the presenting organization and the venue. A minimum of information is required* in order to post a listing.

How do I submit a listing?

Please email dc.list(at)thedancecurrent.com with the performance information in the order outlined above, line by line. Please DO NOT FORMAT THE TEXT in any way (no special fonts, italics, boldface, underlining, all capitals, centering, tabs or other style).


How long can my descriptive sentence be?

Maximum 20 words. We reserve the right to edit for space and clarity.


How do I format my photo for the listing?

Image file: Each listing can display one thumbnail image that will open as a larger image when a user double clicks on it. Please submit 2 copies of the same image as follows. Name the files by the company or artist name with no spaces or other special characters. In the filename, use lg for large, use sm for small. Include the file extension (MUST BE .jpg).

destination dance~danse is a copyrighted publication of Dance Media Group/Groupe Danse Média.
