Tracing The Steps is a fundraiser for Toronto’s historic, not-for-profit, community cinema. Join in for a unique exploration of The Ballets Russes and two of its legendary dancers: Vaslav Nijinsky and his sister Bronia. The Ballet Russes Dance Company revolutionized 20th-century performing arts, introduced modern dance to the world and continues to influence cultural activity today. The evening will include the following. Roncy writer Eva Stachniak, author of this year’s Best Seller The Chosen Maiden - inspired by Bronia Nijinska’s unique voice - will talk about the Nijinskys and read from her novel. Piotr Stanczyk, Principal Dancer with The National Ballet of Canada, will introduce the upcoming production of Nijinsky, choreographed by John Neumeier. “Ballets Russes,” an acclaimed documentary about the company, will be shown on 35mm! There will be fabulous raffle prizes, and more! The Revue is proud to host this unique evening and artistic collaboration. Tracing The Steps is presented thanks to the gracious support of Eva Stachniak, The National Ballet of Canada, Pia Bouman School for Ballet and Creative Movement and Penguin Random House Canada. Tickets are available here.
