The two works featured in through your eyes are Untitled by talented choreographic duo Lauren Cook and ADP member Troy Feldman, and a new commission by acclaimed choreographer Hanna Kiel entitled Me, You and Us.
, created by Cook and Feldman in collaboration with sound designer/projection designer/art director, Omar David Rivero (Driftnote), explores our desire to have more, be more, and be desired by more; and how that puts our human connection at risk. What happens when we have depleted our resources and destructed our relationships while trying to achieve status?
Kiel’s Me, You and Us is about how our personal experience from the past shapes who we are now and how it affects the future.
Both works are created and performed with dance artists Caitlin Amodeo, Drew Berry, Francesca Chudnoff, Lauren Cook, Amanda Davis, Luke Garwood, Emily Law and Greg Selinger.
through your eyes is a result of years of research, training and exchanging with artists across the Toronto dance community, integrating diverse movement styles and backgrounds into a combined vocabulary of contemporary dance, martial arts, parkour, various street dance styles and alternative partnering techniques. This double bill stands as a landmark in Alias’ ten-year history, and is the beginning of the next chapter for the company.
